We’re very pleased to award our 2019 grants to Red Spider Company and Ashwater Community Steel Band for their open Workshops. These workshops are held in local community halls, are free of charge and open to the public, including children and adults of all ages. They are also run by experienced practitioners in their respective areas.

Red Spider Company is a well-established amateur dramatic society, based in Bratton Clovelly, Lifton and Lewdown. They are running three innovative workshops lead by Anthony Richards, a professional theatre director and experienced actor and coach.

Dates and Venue:

21st October, 2.30pm at Lewdown Victory Hall

27th October, 2.30pm at Bratton Clovelly Parish Hall

17th November, 2.30pm at Lewdown Victory Hall

Ashwater Community Steel Band was founded eight years ago by Christine March, Musical Director. The aim of the Band is to introduce the public to the pleasures and benefits of playing a musical instrument in a group. This includes introducing music as a therapeutic method of dealing with rural isolation, physical & mental disabilities and illness where the learning of a new skill particularly in later life has been proven to be beneficial.

The band offers an inclusive environment and all are welcome, even those who consider they have no musical ability. It is a social activity where young and old happily participate on equal terms. The Band performs and runs workshops in various locations around Devon and we’re very excited that they will be running workshops in Bratton Clovelly. These will be for both children and adults of all ages.
